(8 June 08) Things are still progressing slowly on the plane. Money is, as always, the main thing holding everything
back. Basically, my aim is to get her put back together, then some pics of her completely painted and with the
engine mounted.
Talk about changing circumstances - my idea of the pitts-style muffler simply didn't pan out and I went with the
original OS-.40LA muffler, which meant that I had to cut out a lot of the side of the cowl and rebuild it. Other than
that, it was pretty much as I expected.
She's completely recovered now, and doped - ready for the flying wires, engine crankshaft extension & fuel tank.
Then she flies!
Before I go any further I want to say a little something about SIG's Koverall & Stixit. I wish this stuff had been available 40
years ago when I was REALLY building planes. I can't say enough nice things about this material - it's incredibly strong, applies
easier than silkspan, seals and paints like a dream.
Fabulous stuff!!
Below are the first pics of the plane 95% ready to go. I took them as she sat in the sun and wind, last coat of dope drying.
