There's no harder time to have horses on a shoestring, and keep them healthy, than winter - and 2009-2010 has been one of the
hardest we've endured.  These pages chronicle our guys/gal and a bit of how they (and we) survived this hardest of seasons.

Sign at Blue Ridge Accents on Rt340
Dovel Hollow Road.  Driveway is
just beyond the Cedar trees -
railroad trestle across the valley
is beyond that.
Driveway onto the farm.
White posts mark the bridge over
the stream.
The guys/gal, waiting for breakfast.  Center pic has Max on the left, Cherokee &
Banjo at the gate, Blue and Sweetpea behind them.  The area we're walking has
been cleared by snowblower TWICE at this point, with another 4" to take care of.
Blower was then used to clear the roundpen so hay could be brought in.
Max, patiently waiting for
breakfast.
Clicking on any photo will bring it up, full-size, in a new window.
Cherokee, watching us get the
morning grain ready for breakfast.
BREAKFAST TIME!  Max never
misses breakfast.
Blue, making faces.
Banjo, doing what he does best -
stuffing his face.
Cherokee, munching.
Sweetpea.  Of all the horses, she
is the most patient (except for
"cookie time") and gentle.
After breakfast.  Cherokee's
"helping" Max get all the grain off
the ground, Sweety & Blue are in
the stream for a sip.
Their shelter, after some of the
snow slid off.
