The first real, live horse joined the family on 15 September 2001.  Arizona is Holly's beautiful, 15
hands (or about 5 feet high at the whithers {shoulders}) Quarterhorse mare who just had her last
baby on 16 March 2002.

Horse #2 is Susan's; a young 3/4 Arabian gelding who stands at just 13.3 hands and is named DLA
Basks Blue Smoke (Blue).

Horse #3 is also Holly's; Mac Prince (Banjo), a strapping 6 year-old, 15 hands high Tobiano Paint
gelding that she picked up on 27 October 2001.  He's really impressive!

Horse #4 is Susan's second; Red Max (Max) is a 14-year old Quarterhorse
with a bit of thoroughbred, stands 15.2 hands.  This guy's incredible!

Horse #5 is Holly's by Arizona; Cherokee Sunrise (Cherokee) joined our family on Saturday, 16
March 2002 at 2:15AM.

Horse #6 is Susan's rescue; Old Blackie (Blackie) is a 30+ year old Walking Horse that's been just
about starved out of existence.  He's so thin it's hard to tell just how old he is but his teeth are those
of a 30 year old.

Susan's Dream - Come True!
THREE TIMES!

DLA Basks Blue Smoke
We call him "Blue", he's a 3/4-Arabian that's just barely beginning to learn what he can really do!
He runs like the wind - the personification of freedom!

Red Max
"Max" is Susan's second addition to our equestrian family, he joined us on 18 February 2002.
This guy's 100% horse and is really representative of his name - he neck reins and moves in any direction with just
the barest hint of guidance,
gentle as a baby -- a total pleasure for riding.

Old Blackie
Blackie joined us on 27 May 2002.  This guy's just what his name implies - he's old, he's worn out, he's half-starved
(literally) and he's Susan's rescue from starvation and those that we call "The Killers" - the pet food factory.
Somewhat wary of strange situations, he still has a deeply instilled trust and is steady as a rock.
Blackie's gone now - left us, peacefully on 20 March 2003.  His pages have changed to reflect some of what he meant to all of us -
it's a real treat to visit him, I hope y'all like it.

Holly's Dreams

Arizona
If ever there was love in the world, this is the horse that shows love!  These two girls (Holly & Arizona) were really
meant for each other - a joy to watch.
Our lady is gone now - crossed the rainbow on 26 February 2008.  We haven't changed her pages, they'll remain as she was -
stable and steady, a pillar of strength and courage to us all.

Cherokee Sunrise
Son of Arizona, this little guy is God's gift to the entire family.  He's a Tobiano Paint/Quarterhorse mix and is
absolutely beautiful.  He's also completely "full of himself", and so smart it's hard to teach him anything at all - he
already thinks he knows everything.  But life with him is truly fun and entertaining.

Mac Prince
"Banjo" is the name this beautiful Tobiano Paint answers to.  With baby-blue eyes and a face that could melt ice, this
is one beautiful boy!  He's not only totally devoted to his equine family, he's the self-appointed protector of all of us.

Dale's Darlings

Dakota
Dakota's gone from us now, living with a family across the valley.  A cast-off of the "team-penning" world, this young
lady has a lot of work in front of her.  She'll probably never be big enough to "work", we just gave her a good, loving
home where she could live & try to be happy.  Our efforts with this young mare simply didn't work out - the more we
worked with her and cared for her, the meaner she became.  Finally, we found a place where she could have another
chance for peace and happiness - a young lady not far away who fell in love with her at first sight.  Already quite
ridable, Dakota was a willing worker and a bond formed instantly between the two of them.  We still check in on her
from time to time and it's definitely working out quite nicely.

I think she'll be OK now.

Sweetpea
What can I say about this most gentle of mares?  She's a joy to behold and know.  We came by our "Sweety" shortly
after Arizona left us and she's filled the void in our guys' hearts, as well as our own.  She gives us a stability and
peace that is so uplifting, it's hard to describe.
This picture, above, shows all the guys/gal at once - a true rarity.  In the
foreground is (left to right) Max, Cherokee and Arizona.  In the background
is Blackie, Blue & Banjo.  Just to the left of Banjo you can see Holly.
Pic was taken July 16 2002.
