On 17 October 2001, Susan's 30+-year-old
dream finally came true!

Horses have been a part of this family for quite a few years, but there have been no living
horses in our family until very recently, and
our first live horse became a member of our
household on 17 October 2001.

The first real, live horse in the family was Arizona; that's Holly's beautiful Quarter Horse mare.

But the first for Susan and me is a young 3/4 Arabian gelding named dla Basks Blue Smoke.  He's absolutely
beautiful - what can I say?  He's just 18 months old and stands at just 13.1 hands, so riding is still some time away.
But that doesn't really matter very much.  The point is that, after nearly 31 years of waiting and dreaming, Susan
owns a horse - an Arabian, no less!

I have to tell you, I don't think I've seen her this happy in quite a few years!

Guess I'm a bachelor again.  Naw, that's not right - I've got my planes, telescope and wood shop, and now Susan's
got her first horse.
They're not great, taken from an instant camera, but here are the first pics of our latest family member.
