| Remember, I'm a born tourist. The reason God put me on this Earth was to tour and see the world. Stuttgart was more than just another tour - it was my last overseas tour. As such, this was the assignment in which my "tourist" disposition really came to the fore. The top two pics are of a couple of my more favorite places in Stuttgart, itself. Both are right downtown on the main square. But Stuttgart was, for us, no more than a main base from which to stage trips - almost every weekend saw us somewhere around southern or central Germany - The Black Forest, Swabia, the Alps, the Rhineland, where-ever. This page is loaded with a few pics of our more favorite places, most of which we re-visited regularly. |

| Before we begin the actual tours that we took - I thought you might want to see the "official" reason that we were in Stuttgart. Officially, I was stationed at Stuttgart Army Airfield with OL-RG, Det-1, 6910th ESW. Our unit was attached operationally to the 2nd MI Battalion, VII Corps, US Army. The shield, center-above, was our unit shield, the left-above pic is the VII Corps patch, and the patch right-above is the logo for 2nd MI Btn. The two RC-12D's shown here are representative of the airborne component of our little family. The ground-based component, where I actually worked, is the bottom-right pic. I took this shot from the open door of a "Huey" chopper, right over our dish antennas. |
