Probably the biggest thing that happened to me in Syracuse is that I met Susan, whom I eventually married - even though we'd
hardly had a date all the time I was actually there.
Our meeting was something of a novelty. She had just started working in the USO and I stopped down there one night. Half way
down the steps I saw her and greeted her with "hello, future wife". For me, at least, it was love at first sight! For her, from that
point on she had the definite opinion that I was obnoxious, a pain in the neck and generally nuts. You know, 41 years later, that
opinion hasn't changed one iota.
After I graduated and went to Goodfellow AFB, I called her almost every night (collect) and built up a whopping $400 phone bill for
her - remember, this was in 1969, $400 was a BUNCH of bucks. Finally, one night we were yakking and I remember saying
something to the effect "well woman, when are we getting married" and her reply was something like "Well, it's about time. How
'bout June 21st?"
Anyway, that was my proposal and her acceptance.
The rest is history.
This seems to be the ONLY picture of Skytop, as it was while we were there, available anywhere. My thanks to Ed Leonard for letting me steal it and Chet Zaremba for taking it in the first place.

University
Syracuse University is the home of Skytop, where I had my first language training with the USAF. Believe me, this picture to the right "ain't it"! This particular photo is of the University Administration building (HQ for you military types) - Skytop is situated south-by-southeast of this building about 2 miles. A fairly decent pic of the overall site is below:
