| My Military Service United States Air Force Security Service / Electronic Security Command Feb 8 1968 - Jan 1 1990 AFSC 203x1/208x3 Since I was old enough to look into the sky I saw airplanes flying, and developed an everlasting love of "the wing", a love I hold always. I knew that someday I would join these lucky airmen in some form or other. When I found out, some years later, that I also had a love of languages and an eternal "nose problem", I determined that the actual joining should take place in the form of the Intelligence Service. So, on the 8th of February, 1968, I entered the SIGINT world through the United States Air Force. For the next, nearly 22, years I joyfully served my country and my adopted service - joining two loves for its' benefit and my own. Below are the various locations of that service. Go ahead, take the tour with me. Click on the Lackland AFB line to start. Note that "repeats" of tours are not linked. I only linked up one page-set per location. (NOTE: Links are all active, but not all pages are finished. Eventually, I'll have pictures and some stories of my specific activities for all the pages (sometimes known as "war stories"), a few that directly relate to my military service, a few that relate more to my (sometimes strange) sense of humor, luck (or lack there-of) and honor. Keep watching!) | Now, we ALL know that not everything in the military was taken completely seriously. Below are a couple of "tongue-in-cheek" examples of that philosophy. |
| Legion of Signage Medal Presented for Conspicuously Illicit Collections of Official Military (usually Air Force) Base Signs |
| Inter-Service Campaign Medal Presented for Extreme Bravery In The Face Of Opposing (usually Army) Forces |
| And, now that THAT silliness is out of the way, by clicking on any of these, below, you will go to that service's official web-site in a new window. |
